Unless you are using a console cable and Putty (or equivalent terminal software) to get at it via a Serial connection? You do know about the Enable mode, right? After logging in successfully, type If you are logged in to the 5510, then you must know at least one of the IP addresses set on the firewall. Also I need to know if any changes I make will interrupt service. It seems like I am missing a fairly simple but very important configuration option or concept to get where I need to go.Īny advice or guidance would be appreciated. I am consoling in and was attempting to enable a management interface, but couldn't give it an IP address. They aren't listed as options when I go into configuration mode for an interface. Most of the articles and configuration guides all have commands that it is just not accepting. The configuration is a fairly straight forward failover with two groups.

I believe it is working as a router in multiple context mode, as I can ping an IP in it as the gateway of a host, but do not see that IP info when I do a SH INT IP BR or anywhere in the SH RUN. When I am logged in, I cannot execute any commands that address IP. I am familiar with R&S IOS but not the ASA CLI. We want to enable the ASDM to check some rules, but are having difficulty. I have fallen in on a running 5510 that was configured 3 years ago, and no one is left that is familiar with it.
